Session Information

What will happen in a session?

At the first session, you will be asked to complete intake forms containing personal details and a consent form which includes fees, cancelation policy, limits to confidentiality, and rights to dignity while accessing the service.

In the first one or two sessions, the psychologists will ask questions to gain an understanding for the reasons you are attending for assistance. We use many tools to assist in gathering this information. The psychologist will propose possible therapeutic methods and through discussion together a plan for intervention will be constructed.

Assessment sessions will be planned with the psychologist at the first sessions to fit with the evaluations needs, and typically require between one to two hours to complete each session.  Different types of assessments will possibly require a different number of sessions. Typically, an evaluation (eg. IQ testing) session will cost more than a counselling session, due to the need to score and write a report using out-of sessions time.  The cost will vary depending upon your service needs.

Services such as individual counselling/ therapy will typically be for 50 minutes. Couples or therapy for complex needs may require longer sessions. Groups are of varying lengths ranging from one hour to three hours. These will be discussed and booked prior to commencement of the session.
